The one who files an ESTA application and gets the authorization, no longer have to apply all over again for a visa to visit America. As we said earlier in this post, there are numerous as 36 countries, most of which are European, fall under the visa waiver program. These 36 countries are the only selected ones from which the citizens can apply for ESTA or electronic system for a travel authorization.

Rules or prerequisites

The ESTA application might be simple, but there are a number of necessary requirements set by the government which is necessary to be fulfilled by the traveler, mostly from the VWP countries to apply for the ESTA. The most important of the requirements are:

  1. The verification through the passport. The applicant who is filling the esta application must have a valid passport. The passport should be latest and should be able to be checked by machines for the purpose.
  2. The purpose of traveling cannot be residential. The reasons for which one can apply for esta should either be business, transit, or tourism only.
  3. The maximum number of days for which you can get the authorization must not be more than three months or 90 days. If you file an application for more than 90 days, it might get rejected in the first place.

While there are rules set for esta application under the US visa waiver program,  the grant and confirmation of authorization are controlled by the various measures set by the embassy officials. Grant of application and authorization is not the last step, but at the last step, the embassy officials check every person and verify them before they enter the US.
